How to unlock Catapult
You need Barracks level 10 in the training city. Complete the following research as well:
- Archery level 10
- Metal Casting level 10
Training cost & upkeep
The resource cost below trains one Catapult. Base training time is 1h 40m, before building, research, and governor effects. Food upkeep is 250 per hour per unit at home. Marching troops consume twice their normal food upkeep.

Using Catapults in your army
Catapults have 1,500 base range and 600 attack. Their unlock requires Barracks level 10, Archery level 10, and Metal Casting level 10. This is a late development investment rather than an opening build.
Each Catapult consumes 250 food per hour before march effects. Food supply, transport planning, and supporting research are essential when deciding how many your cities can maintain.
Before you march
- Scout the target and review the available report.
- Check your hero, troop mix, and current research.
- Keep enough food for the march and enough carrying capacity for the return.
- Review scouting and combat planning before choosing a force.
