City defense combines walls, fortifications, stationed troops, research, and leadership. Attackers must break the wall to win. A high wall alone does not replace a prepared defense.
| Fortification | Wall level | Space | Range | Base time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Traps | 1 | 1 | 5000 | 1m 0s |
| Abatis | 2 | 2 | 5000 | 2m 0s |
| Archer's Towers | 3 | 4 | 1300 | 3m 0s |
| Rolling Logs | 5 | 4 | 1300 | 6m 0s |
| Defensive Trebuchets | 7 | 8 | 5000 | 10m 0s |
Research that supports the walls
Engineering adds 10% durability per level for walls and fortified defenses. Machinery adds 100% of each fortification type’s base repair rate per level after battle. These effects are distinct from building additional defenses.
Know what is incoming
The Beacon Tower warns of armies marching toward your city and its tiles. Level 1 raises the alarm; additional levels reveal more information. Develop it before you need to react to a threat.
