How to unlock Battering Ram
You need Barracks level 9 in the training city. Complete the following research as well:
- Iron Working level 8
- Metal Casting level 7
Training cost & upkeep
The resource cost below trains one Battering Ram. Base training time is 1h 15m, before building, research, and governor effects. Food upkeep is 100 per hour per unit at home. Marching troops consume twice their normal food upkeep.

Using Battering Rams in your army
Battering Rams have 5,000 base health, the highest troop health in the roster, and a range of 600. They are slow siege units with substantial lumber costs and demanding research requirements.
Their 100 food upkeep per hour adds up quickly. Evaluate the target’s wall and defenses before using a force that is expensive to supply and replace.
Before you march
- Scout the target and review the available report.
- Check your hero, troop mix, and current research.
- Keep enough food for the march and enough carrying capacity for the return.
- Review scouting and combat planning before choosing a force.
