From Bohemia to Ravenfell

House Veyr’s heirs reached Corvaine after leaving Bohemia with carts of household records, letters, and sealed agreements. Their founder refused to trade those papers for a faster passage, believing that a displaced family without its records could lose its rights as well as its home. The collection became the beginning of Ravenfell’s archive. Its descendants inherited a difficult conviction: preserving the truth matters most when the powerful would find it easier to forget.

The Price of a Secret

Ravenfell's first great house rose through recordkeeping rather than conquest. Its scribes preserved treaties, marriages, land grants, and judgments that other states lost to war or fire. Black messenger birds became their emblem, and the citadel's archive grew almost as carefully guarded as its gates.

The archive earned Ravenfell influence and enemies. A forgotten signature could end a feud; another could expose a stolen inheritance. Its archivists developed a rule that no document would be destroyed merely because a powerful visitor found it inconvenient. Several paid for that rule with their lives.

Now envoys arrive seeking records that might strengthen a claim to Corvaine's empty throne. Some bring coin. Others bring threats. Ravenfell's people know that a true document can still be used dishonestly when half its story is concealed. The next ruler must decide whether the archive will serve the realm, the highest bidder, or a single ambition.

Every state carries its own history. In Law of Kings, players build cities, form alliances, and contest citadels within the same persistent realm. Read the citadel guide for gameplay rules.
