ANCESTRAL HOMELAND · FRANCONIA

From Franconia to Ashmark

Long before the Night of Cinders, the heirs of House Aderic left Franconia with a caravan of displaced households. Their elders carried a ceremonial key to a hall they would never see again. In Corvaine, they pledged that a ruler’s home would stand only as long as the town around it remained safe. Later generations broke that promise in the feud that scarred Ashmark. The survivors’ rebuilding became a demand that the founding oath finally be honored.

The Realm Rebuilt

Ashmark takes its name from the Night of Cinders, when a quarrel between two noble houses became a fire that consumed the market town between their estates. The lords blamed each other. The survivors buried their dead together, then rebuilt with stone salvaged from both abandoned manor houses.

When the crown finally intervened, it recognized a new council of builders, veterans, and household elders. That council laid the foundations of Ashmark's citadel. A strip of blackened timber from the old town was sealed above its inner gate, where every arriving lord could see the cost of pride.

The king's death has brought descendants of the feuding houses back to claim their ancestral rights. Ashmark remembers who rebuilt its homes when those families fled. Its people will follow a ruler who protects what they have made, but they have little patience for anyone who treats a city as fuel for ambition.

Every state carries its own history. In Law of Kings, players build cities, form alliances, and contest citadels within the same persistent realm. Read the citadel guide for gameplay rules.
